For teens

If something feels wrong, you're not broken.

This part of the site is written for teens and young adults — not for your parents. Real information, written respectfully, about mental health and what to do when you're not okay.

Most articles about teen mental health are written for parents. They're about you, not for you. We think that's strange given that you're the one going through whatever this is.

This part of Hartley is different. The voice is direct. The information is real. We don't pretend to be a teen — Hartley is run by adults — but we don't talk down to you, and we don't moralize. Mostly we try to answer the questions we'd want answered if we were sixteen and reading this on our phone at midnight.

If you're in crisis right now

If you're thinking about hurting yourself or you don't feel safe, please call or text 988, or text HOME to 741741. If you're LGBTQ+, the Trevor Project at 1-866-488-7386 has people who specifically get it. None of these will report you to anyone for asking for help.
